Audiolandscape Strudengau
Digital archive, sound, website, 2017

An  acoustic walk

The region of Strudengau is a wild and romantic countryside along the Danube in Ober-  and Niederösterreich (upper and lower Austria). The Strudengau is a historic countryside, well known for its former danube trumoils. Now its an inside, nearly forgotten tip for hikers and slow tourism. AUDIOLANDSCHAFT STRUDENGAU is presenting this artificial landscape in an auditive way.

A combination of photography and sound recordings creates a modern landscape. The wild water of the Danube (the region is called after this former dangerous zone) is under control, but the Strudengau continues its way. Calm, sharp and  unstoppable.

More than 100 soundscapes taken in the region of Strudengau (upper / lower Austria), combined with simultanously taken images. The archive is published on a website.

WHITE_BOX_OPEN_SPACE

WHITE_BOX_OPEN_SPACE

Photography, each 45x30cm, Social Media (Instagram), model, 2016 – ongoing
Since the opening of his WHITE_BOX_OPEN_SPACE gallery, Roland Wegerer has been showing a series of space-consuming installations, using digital space in the process. In the online gallery, proportions change and everyday objects are elevated to the status of exhibits solely through their positioning. WHITE_BOX_OPEN_SPACE is an experiment with shifts in meaning and a critical examination of the art system. Here, perception, validity and success are only a question of dimension and perspective. The actual art in this game between reality and image, however, is the digital image, its reception and its distribution. Wegerer playfully explores the potential of social media as a means of self-empowerment for artists. An Instagram direct link becomes an admission ticket to a globally available exhibition space, terminals with online access to visualization tools.

The Hummerbichler is continuously transforming his appearance while investigating an unknown habitat. He is a kind of alien trying to orientate himself. No answers will be given.

This Is My Voice

This Is My Voice (My Weapon of Choice)

Videoperformance, 3:50min, 16:9, Sound, 2010

The video performance “This Is My Voice (My Weapon Of Choice)” shows a stuttering chorus. Ten choreographically identical speech performances are shown simultanously. The irritation caused by the stuttering sound results in a new onomatopoetic sound. This video is a result of an intense speech thearpy by the artist.
